Author and historian Jay Sherwood will be in Mackenzie on April 16, 2016 to present his latest book: ‘The Landscapes of Ed Lamarque: Artist, Surveyor, and Renaissance Man 1879 – 1970’.
Ed Lamarque was a Hudson’s Bay Company factor and surveyor, and spent time in posts across the prairies and British Columbia, pursuing a career in fur trading. After 1907, Lamarque travelled widely as a surveyor for the purpose of building highways, military bases and ski lifts across BC. A self-taught artist, he often sketched and painted to share his experiences in his correspondence with friends and family.
Presentation starts at noon in the Mackenzie Library. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
A selection of Jay Sherwood’s earlier books are also available in our gift shop.
